Sound Off® Translation: Drop by Drop – Zero Waste Blue
Are you blue aware?
That was the inspiring question at the Drop by Drop – Zero Waste Blue exhibition held last week at Guastavino’s in New York City. This special event incorporated art as a universal language to remind humanity that water is the fundamental source of life.
Emine Erdoğan, the First Lady of Turkey, spoke at the exhibition which was part of New York Climate Week, 2025, the world’s largest global climate event. Organized by Erdogan’s Zero Waste Foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Urban Planning and Climate Change, Drop by Drop – Zero Waste Blue gathered UN Representatives, environmental volunteers from all over the world, and valuable artists.
Amidst the blue-focused exhibit were blue-glowing headphones, facilitating simultaneous Turkish-English translation. Instead of using traditional interpretation equipment where attendees typically use earpieces and individual receivers, the Drop by Drop organizers chose to use Sound Off™ silent disco headphones for a more comfortable, immersive option. Our noise-isolation technology and high-quality audio helped the audience focus on the presentations and tune into the important messages of the day. Our headphones’ blue LED lights enhanced the space with a luminous effect that was right in line with the exhibit’s unique water-themed artwork.
Featured at the event was an installation titled Cometa by Istanbul-based digital artist Gökhan Doğan. An interactive digital work of art, this experience responded to the viewer’s touch and combined the infinite sky with the depths of water. Here, the galaxy transformed into blue drops and fluid seagrass met the stars, illustrating the splendor of the universe and the fragility of nature.
As Erdoğan so eloquently says, “…the Zero Waste Blue movement continues its journey by acknowledging every drop of water as the most valuable legacy to be left to future generations. This significant exhibition is the finest illustration of how the collective efforts have evolved into a global call.”
Erdoğan’s Zero Waste Foundation is a main partner in New York Climate week, with the aim of promoting Turkey’s climate and sustainability vision on a global scale. Sound Off is proud to be a part of such an important climate action platform where innovative policies and pioneering practices are shared with international attendees, in order to create a more liveable environment for those to come.
