Sabrina Badeaux, founder of Kanekshun, guides people to find balance through energy and movement in unique workshop settings. A soothing, meditative sound bath with Sound Off™ technology is one of her specialties.

A few months back during the summer solstice, Badeaux decided to enhance her sound bath experience, transforming it into an innovative floating sound bath at the luxurious Miami EDITION hotel. There, participants floated in a shimmering blue pool while Sound Off headphones streamed the rich, cleansing overtones of multiple singing bowls, lulling them into a deep inner journey.

We spoke to Badeaux about how Sound Off technology plays an integral role in this new and profound “floating” experience:

How did you come up with the idea for the floating sound bath?

SB: I attended a floating sound bath in California last year, with multiple healers and amplified sound as we floated around in the pool. The entire time, I kept thinking how much more impactful this experience would be if they had a silent disco headphone audio system to ensure each person received the same sound journey. I knew I had to do this in Miami!

How does a floating sound bath experience differ from a typical sound bath experience?

SB: A floating sound bath experience offers a unique twist on the traditional sound bath by incorporating buoyancy and water immersion. Being in the pool enhances the sensation of relaxation and immersion into the sound. The buoyancy allows for a deeper sense of weightlessness and freedom from physical tension. 

The sound waves travel through the water, creating a more enveloping auditory experience. The combination of water and sound can amplify the vibrations and make the experience feel more immersive and soothing. The sensation of floating can also reduce external distractions and increase focus on the sound.

Why did you use Sound Off technology during the floating experience?

SB: For 99% of my outdoor sound offerings, I use Sound Off to ensure that each guest gets a fully immersive and personal sound journey no matter the external environment. It also allows us to do large scale events and still provide the quality of a one-on-one sound journey. With the elements of nature like wind and the size of the pools, it seemed like the most natural fit to do the floating sound bath event with Sound Off technology.

How do your participants feel about using our technology during your events?
