Vision Expo East Recap: 141 Eyewear, Barton Perreira and the Loudest Silent Party in Town
Late March’s Vision Expo East in NYC gave Unique Group the chance for three straight days of representing the brands we love — and throwing a first-ever proprietary event that made quite a splash.
Our friends at Barton Perreira usually display their wares off-site at the Hudson Studios. This year saw them move to an area called The Terraces inside the Jacob Javin Center proper. Bill and Patty Perreira’s team commanded a birds-eye view of the trade show floor and enjoyed a highly successful show, showing their new collection to customers amid the frenzy, who were quite thrilled about the new space.
Meanwhile, 141 Eyewear co-founders Kyle and Shu-Chu Yamaguchi set up in their traditional spot (the atrium at the Galleria) and also enjoyed a great show, debuting three new optical styles, two new sunglass styles and new ULTEM colors for styles from the fall 2013 collection. The new merchandise drew lots of attention, drew some new business, leaving Kyle and Sooch a happy (and exhausted) pair of entrepreneurs.
It was also a chance for Unique Group to create some fun — for the first time, our company hosted a party. Our Sound Off silent disco event, which allows users to tune in to the DJ on special wireless headphones (without disturbing neighbors with waves of bass and treble), drew a room full of revelers who appreciated the chance to blow off some steam in a very Unique way.
Unique Group tips our hat to the organizers of a great VEE, the brands we’re privileged to represent, and everybody who made VEE 2014 so much darn fun.
