Francofolies Festival: The Sound Off Silent Disco
It’s festival season, and if you love the francophone musical landscape as well as multicultural music influences, then the Francofolies Esch/Alzette experience is a can’t miss. And this year it’s lit up with a glowing silent disco!
Held in the scenic Gaalgebierg Park in Esch-sur-Alzette, the festival celebrates Luxembourg’s rich cultural history through music and language, featuring a packed schedule of live performances over three days (June 6 – 8). Thousands of attendees show up to see established and emerging artists representing genres from traditional French chanson to hip-hop, electronic, and alternative rock. Headlining the Francofolies Esch/Alzette event this year are Soprano, Timmy Trumpet, Julien Doré, Bigflo & Oli, Michel Polnareff, and more.
For those who want to dance, dance, dance, the immersive Sound Off Silent Disco keeps the vibe going each night of the festival, from 6:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m. Located in the west area of the park, the silent disco stage features multiple DJs who battle it out, streaming their tunes simultaneously through our headphones’ numerous channels.
Guests can switch between sets with the flick of a switch right on their Sound Off silent disco headphones, while our glowing LED lights indicate which DJ they prefer in the moment. For onlookers, it’s a festive sea of colorful light, bouncing to a silent beat.
In the midst of providing a fun, unique event filled with outstanding music, another major focus of the Francofolies Esch/Alzette festival is a commitment to sustainability. Here are a few examples of how that’s incorporated into the experience:
- Eco-friendly transportation is encouraged (shuttle buses, carpooling, bike parking provided)
- Sustainable food (vegetarian/vegan and fair trade options, compostable napkins, etc.)
- Waste reduction and recycling (bins clearly labeled, paper waste sorted, and more)Â
- Controlled consumption (all LED lighting, free drinking water, no gas stoves, etc.)
Officially certified as a Green Event, the Francofolies Esch/Alzette festival features a diverse program of environmental themes, providing information and awareness while helping to reduce the ecological footprint of events held in Luxembourg.
What could be better than coming together and grooving to the best music while saving the planet?
