Mind, Body & Music: A Spotlight On DJ Taz Rashid

Mark Twain once said that “The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.” DJ Taz Rashid knows his “why” and has spent the last year spreading its gospel to all corners of America with 100 Sound Off™ headphones in tow. His mission? To inspire each listener to feel, let go, and awaken with the power of music. We recently caught up with Taz to see he’s been up to.

This new dad is a man of many talents. He produces music, facilitates music for yoga and holotropic breathwork classes, guides intention setting sessions, in addition to leading ancestral work and sound meditation journeys to help ignite personal awakenings within. In the last year, 70% of Taz’s events have featured our technology. DJ Taz Rashid employs binaural beats during his events to arouse alpha and theta brainwaves. This process unlocks deeper levels of meditation and creativity.  Binaural beats can only be heard using headphones and that’s where Sound Off™ steps in. He uses the headphones and the music to leave guests feeling elevated. Taz reports that his guests are truly moved by the experience. “I’ve had people come up to me and tell me that they’ve really felt a shift inside or that they’ve seen their grandmother or another ancestor. I love creating space for people to feel safe and let their guard down and have these transformational experiences” says Taz.

His latest project is mybestplaylist.com – a digital catalog of hundreds of epic playlists curated specifically for yoga, meditation, and mindfulness via Spotify. After noticing a lack of music education in the yoga industry, Taz created his own in-person workshop to support instructors and practitioners with the creation of their own powerful soundscapes for their practice. With this mission in mind, Taz has launched a site that will change the face of yoga music globally. This is the first platform of its kind and now participants can discover, create and save playlists online- for free!  If you would like to access yoga, meditation, and mindfulness playlists curated by DJ Taz Rashid, click here!

Taz has recently performed at Yoga Journal Conference, Wanderlust, Arise, Bhakti, and Bali Spirit Festivals while sharing the stage with Xavier Rudd, Michael Franti, Trevor Hall, Nahko Bear, MC Yogi, DJ Drez, and Gaudi. Let go and awaken with Taz and Sound Off Yoga at his next event in New York City!
